Physicians and Nurse Practitioners

MAO,  an award-winning Ryan White Funded program covering 28 counties of South Central Alabama, is looking for passionate, innovative physicians and nurse practitioners to work in an excellent team environment. We have provider openings in our Montgomery and Dothan locations. We prefer HIV experienced providers, but will also train Family Practice or Internal Medicine providers in HIV and Hepatitis C treatment, PrEP,  and in our nationally recognized telemedicine program. Nurse Practitioner (Montgomery & Dothan)

Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the provision of Primary Medical Care to patients in MAO- Dothan/Copeland Care Clinic and Rural Clinic sites as needed.  This care is according to Copeland Care Clinic policies, procedures and protocols with the collaboration of the Medical Director and/or Staff Physicians.  This position may require in and out of state travel.  This position may consult with other providers in the provision of patient care. This position has unlimited access to all PHI.

Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science in Nursing.
  • Licensure/Certifications:  Registered Nurse Practitioner State of Alabama, BLS, American
  • Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Credentialing Center.
  • Professional liability insurance.
  • Hospital admitting privileges optional.
  • Collaborative agreement with appropriate physician(s) as required by the Alabama State Board of Nursing.

Physician ( Montgomery & Dothan)

Position Overview:  Staff Physician is responsible for the provision of Primary Medical Care to patients according to Copeland Care Clinic policies, procedures and protocols.  May require  in/out of state travel.  This position is responsible for providing medical consultation to other providers.  This position has unlimited access to all PHI.

Qualifications: 

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school.
  • Current licensure in the State of Alabama to practice medicine.
  • Considerable progressive experience as a practicing physician and extensive knowledge of HIV/AIDS.

Clinical Practice Manager Position (Montgomery)

MAO is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Clinical Practice Manager to provide effective leadership in the development of systems that will offer the highest quality and most efficient patient care in a multi-site clinical setting. The ideal candidate is a big picture thinker and strong communicator who can implement new initiatives and respond to challenges in a fast paced environment.  MAO strives to improve lives of people in South Central Alabama (28 county area) through the provision of high quality health care, multi-disciplinary teamwork, and innovative approaches including telemedicine for cutting edge rural access to care. We offer specialized HIV care and treatment, primary care for HIV patients, Hepatitis C treatment, and  PrEP, and are currently expanding our clinical services.

The Clinical Practice Manager will work with the Clinical Director and Medical Director/CMO to manage the business and logistics of the Clinical Services and to assist in strategic planning and implementing the clinic services to meet the mission of the agency.  The goal of this position is to manage the business, workflow, logistics, and EMR aspects of the clinical services in keeping with compassionate and quality service while optimizing capacity, quality and efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently licensed or license-eligible RN or NP in the state of Alabama

AND/OR

  • A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Health, Health Care Administration, Non-Profit Administration, or related field
  • With at least 3 years of practice management experience
  • Experience with EHR and Microsoft Office Applications
  • BLS Certification if an RN

Human Resource Specialist ( Montgomery )

The Human Resource Specialist will help plan, manage, and coordinate human resource activities of the organization to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions such as employee compensation, personnel policies, regulatory compliance, personnel records, legal compliance, benefits, pay and job classification structure, and programs for employee training and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources
  • At least 2 years of HR experience
  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of data base programs

Division Manager of Consumer Planning ( Montgomery )

The Division Manager of Consumer Planning will facilitate the involvement and collaboration of clients to improve healthcare outcomes and eliminate barriers to care. The Division Manager of Consumer Planning is responsible for the training, supervision, and evaluation of the consumer planning staff and works as a part of an Interdisciplinary Health Team to provide services to clients of MAO.

Some Duties Include:

  •         Supervises consumer planning staff by monitoring performance and achievement of duties
  •         Oversees and collaborates with Director of Social Services in the creation and implementation of the MAO Consumer Planning divisional policies and procedures approved by the MAO Board of Directors
  •         Ensures consumer planning staff comply with and adhere to Social Services policy and procedure manual
  •         Solicits and organizes information in formulating and enhancing divisional strategies and activities
  •         Creates social development models / approaches that fosters collaboration within a range of communities with varying cultural norms and resources

Qualifications:

  • May have bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration science or field with five years previous experience in HIV services OR
  • May have a master’s degree in health education, health administration, or health science with one year of previous experience in HIV services
  • Must confirm effective auto-insurance coverage and driver’s license if utilizing a vehicle for work related reasons.

Transportation Resource Specialist ( Dothan )

  • Determine most effective transportation resource and provide linkage for transportation resources, including Wiregrass Transit, Greyhound, Personal Vehicle (gas cards), Medicaid Voucher
  • Collaborate with medical and social work staff to determine urgency of transit needs
  • Ensure all clients have an up to date transportation waiver on file
  • Schedule, Confirm and Pick up clients to ensure they arrive on time for all appointments by planning and following the most efficient transportation route

Some Duties Include:

The Transportation Resource Specialist assesses and addresses clients’ barriers to care, determines appropriate transportation resources available, and coordinates clients’ access to transportation services. The Transportation Resource Specialist also works as a part of an Interdisciplinary Health Team to coordinate transportation to medical and social service appointments

  • Coordinate MAO Transit schedule with Community Outreach Social Worker for all appointments
  • Report any vehicle mechanical problems to supervisor and keep van exterior and interior clean for passengers

Qualifications:

  • Licensure at the appropriate level through the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must confirm effective auto-insurance coverage and driver’s license if utilizing a vehicle for work related reasons

Community Outreach Social Worker ( Dothan )

The Community Outreach Social Worker is responsible for conducting biopsychosocial assessments, formulating action plans, and monitoring adherence for targeted clients of Medical AIDS Outreach (MAO) in order to engage targeted clients into care for a sustained period. The Outreach Social Worker additionally works as a part of the Interdisciplinary Health Team to identify and minimize barriers to care for high-risk clients of MAO.

Some Duties Include:

  • Provides short term, intensive direct social work services to high-risk clients with identified or suspected adherence concerns to facilitate retention to care for a targeted population
  • Demonstrates a skilled knowledge of engagement, assessment, case planning, intervention, and monitoring techniques to facilitate retention to care for targeted clients of MAO and / or initiate the helping relationship between MAO Social Services Department and client
  • Occasionally meets with clients outside of the office to complete assessments and / or monitor client progress toward agreed upon objectives
  • Monitors high-risk clients’ adherence and ongoing barriers to care upon reengagement with care for a targeted period of time
  • Coordinates with Division Manager of Community Outreach to accept client referrals for intake and coordinate intake appointment scheduling
  • Works with client’s social worker determine most effective transportation resource and provide linkage for transportation resources, including Wiregrass Transit, Greyhound, Personal Vehicle (gas cards), Medicaid Voucher
  • Maintains weekly outreach schedule

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work
  • Licensure at the appropriate level through the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners

Health Educator (Atmore)

The Health Educator is responsible for developing and implementing outreach activities to reach populations in the service region providing HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and other disease Prevention Education, and to make individuals and communities aware of the services available for individuals who are affected by HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and other disease complications. Critical functions of this position are networking, coordinating, and providing prevention programs to the community at-large about the health impact of HIV and other disease issues. The Health Educator must be able to work independently, but reports to the Director of Educator. This position requires extensive nights and weekends along with frequent travel.  This position has limited access to HIV and other screening test results

Some Duties Include:

  • Ability to adapt to schedule changes and maintain flexibility.
  • Strong ability to interact with diverse groups and cultures.
  • Identify at-risk populations for a variety of healthcare issues maintaining contact through periodic education programs and coordination of risk reduction programming with other agencies/organizations.
  • Complete all prevention activity sheets to document completion of the program as assigned; reschedule/cancellation form if program is rescheduled or cancelled. The Health Educator’s signature verifies the validity and accuracy of the information contained therein.
  • Collect sign-in sheets for all programs conducted and turn in to the Director of Education.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail when completing activity sheets and required reports.
  • Submit required program documentation in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Education, Social Work or other people related field

  • Two years experience in Public Speaking. College course work related to this area may be considered as a part of this requirement

  • Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C preferred

  • Must have valid Driver’s License and Automobile Insurance.


Risk Reduction Specialist ( Montgomery )

The Risk Reduction Specialist will provide HIV/STD/STI testing to clients, inform them on key issues that pertain to the client’s current health and social needs, and promote medication adherence. The Risk Reduction Specialist works as a part of an Interdisciplinary Health Team to provide outreach services to clients of MAO

Some Duties Include:

  • Provide Pre and Post Test Education and Counseling for the HIV antibody test Hepatitis C screening test and STI Testing
  • Administer OraQuick non-invasive HIV tests, Hepatitis C Quick Test and complete pertinent paperwork
  • Conducts HIV counseling in a testing environment in accordance with agency and state protocols
  • Maintain strong knowledge of available services to include Ryan White Part B, AIDS Drug Assistance Program, and Alabama Insurance Assistance Program
  • Works with the Social Work Division to conduct individual discussions with clients as well as identifying potential candidates for referral to other divisions for additional services

Qualifications:

  • Must have an Associate Degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in HIV related field
  • Must confirm effective auto-insurance coverage and driver’s license if utilizing a vehicle for work related reasons
  • Knowledge of medical coding and lab tests such as CD4 and viral load strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a clinical setting strongly preferred

Social Services Resource Specialist ( Montgomery )

The Social Services Resource Specialist is responsible for providing clerical assistance to the staff of Medical AIDS Outreach’s social services department. The Social Services Resource Specialist works as part of an Interdisciplinary Health Team to support housing needs, coordinate transition into care, and facilitate the ongoing delivery of social services to clients of MAO.

Some Duties Include:

  •         Coordinates with the Social Work staff to ensure client documentation is present in the EMR
  •         Work with social workers and outreach case managers to determine most effective transportation resource for clients, including Greyhound, personal vehicle (gas cards), Medicaid voucher, public transit (bus passes)
  •         Works with Community Outreach staff to promote client’s retention in care by identifying and contacting MAO Montgomery clients that have not maintained appointments to include no shows and reschedules
  •         Assist Community Outreach staff in completing intakes with new clients for all MAO locations and performing community outreach in coverage area(s) by building rapport with pertinent community partners

Qualifications:

  • May have a High School Diploma with 3 years’ experience in executive administration OR
  • May have a bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or health and human services
