This position will provide clinical oversight to all substance abuse and mental health services provided to patients and clients of the agency. This position will monitor services to assure clinical quality compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines.

Work Experience Minimum of five years of clinical experience delivering services to individuals with substance use and mental health disorders; at least three years of supervisory experience in a human service setting

Job Duties

  • Provides clinical oversight for substance abuse and mental health treatment services as regulated by state and federal guidelines
  • Provides clinical supervision to the behavioral health treatment staff (BH Therapists and Case Manager)
  • Serves as the infection control and performance improvement manager
  • Works collaboratively with the Behavioral Health Officer to assure compliance with clinical workflows, operational policies and procedures
  • Assist with the delivery of behavioral health and substance abuse treatment services upon request and as needed to support holistic and integrative care
  • Implements and monitors the incident management procedures for substance abuse treatment to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Facilitates direct and indirect crisis intervention services upon request and as needed
  • Assists with monitoring and reporting performance improvement measures for substance abuse treatment services as identified by regulatory standards and reporting guidelines
  • Conducts scheduled and random chart reviews on recipients of care to assure documentation compliance
  • Signs off on clinical documentation as determined by financial regulatory authorities (diagnostic assessments, treatment plan, progress notes, etc.)
  • Facilitates patient case staffing meetings, and interdepartmental consultations between behavioral health providers and clinic medical providers
  • Serves as the Team Leader to the departmental Clinical Quality Improvement (CQI) Project
  • Participates in quarterly CQI meetings, review of medical and behavioral clinical data, and project reporting upon request
  • Participates in the remote and on call staff rotation schedule to assure departmental accessibility for behavioral health operations
  • Assist with specialty clinics and departmental projects as needed
  • Performs other department and agency related duties upon request

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active licensure or certification as a qualified professional in the State of Alabama
  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience delivering services to individuals with substance use and mental health disorders
  • At least three years of supervisory experience in a human service setting
  • Current drivers’ license with dependable and reliable transportation
  • As a medical care-focused agency, annual tuberculin skin test for Tuberculosis will be required, but can be completed at no cost to staff at any MAO Clinic site when available.
  • Vaccinations for COVID-19, influenza, and other recognized public health hazards will be required to protect self, co-workers and MAO clients.

  • Knowledge of HIV, STI’s, Substance use, Mental Health and Therapeutic Approaches to Care

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent sitting, some standing / walking, and occasionally lifting supplies / equipment up to 50 lbs. Occasional reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crouching
  • This position requires an individual who is mentally alert and able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Individual must be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office programming and, after necessary training, electronic health system and Telemedicine equipment
